(INM Chennai, India) – The Don Bosco Super Singer Competition 2025 at Don Bosco Shrine, Ayanavaram, was a grand celebration of music, faith, and youthful talent, inspired by St. John Bosco’s conviction that “an oratory without music is like a body without a soul.” Organized with tireless dedication by the Salesian Cooperators – especially Mr. Francis, Mr. Denis, and Mrs. Ramiya – the initiative was strongly supported by the Salesian community of Don Bosco Shrine under the leadership of the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Thamathiruthuvam SDB, along with his confreres. Their prayerful, financial, and physical backing ensured the success of this event, which has become a prestigious annual platform for children and youth across Chennai.

Music in the Salesian Spirit

The competition began as a parish-level initiative to encourage children and young people to discover and share their God-given talents. Over time, it has grown into a much-awaited event that welcomes participants from schools, parishes, and youth centres, fostering confidence, self-expression, and community in true Salesian style.

 

The 2025 Edition

The 2025 edition opened with great enthusiasm on 20 July 2025, beginning with a prayer dance, a welcome address by Mr. Francis, and the inaugural speeches by Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu SDB, the rector of Lourdes Shrine, Perabur, Chennai and Rev. Fr. Thamathiruthuvam SDB, the rector of Don Bosco, Ayanavaram. Out of 124 contestants, 115 advanced to the quarterfinals, which were followed by semifinals involving 48 contestants (24 juniors and 24 seniors). Finally, 16 talented finalists (10 seniors and 6 juniors) made it to the Grand Finale.

 

The Grand Finale, held on 16 August 2025, coincided with the 210th Birthday of Don Bosco. The evening began with a solemn Holy Mass, followed by the final round at 7:00 p.m. accompanied by a live orchestra, featuring keyboard, rhythm pad, bass guitar, saxophone, flute, tabla, and drums.

 

Results and Recognition

 

In the Junior Category, the winners were:

Title Winner: Master Jeyson (St. Mary’s School, Broadway)

Runner-Up: St. Joseph Church, Malabar

Second Runner-Up: Infant Jesus Church, Korattur

 

In the Senior Category, the winners were:

Title Winner: Ms. Rosy (Basin Bridge)

Runner-Up: Ms. Tassha Bernard (Don Bosco Shrine, Ayanavaram)

Second Runner-Up: Mr. John Vinoth Kumar (Chintadripet)

 

The Chief Guests for the finale were Mr. J.C.D. Prabhakar (Ex-MLA), Rev. Maria Kanaga SDB, and Rev. Fr. Thamathiruthuvam SDB. Winners received cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 5,000, and Rs. 3,000, while all finalists were celebrated for their dedication and talent.

 

A Celebration of Faith and Talent

The Don Bosco Super Singer 2025 was more than a competition – it was a testimony to the Salesian spirit of joy, family, and creativity. Through music, young people not only discovered their hidden talents but also experienced a sense of community and faith. The event kept alive Don Bosco’s legacy of guiding the young with music, joy, and family spirit – making the competition a cherished highlight in the life of Don Bosco Shrine, Ayanavaram.
