On 6th July 2025, the vibrant spirit of youth came alive at Don Bosco School, Madhavaram, as the Lourdes Shrine Youth (LSY) of Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Perambur, proudly hosted the first-ever diocesan-level sports event – Summer Slam 2025.

This energetic gathering brought together youth from 12 parishes across the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, with the aim of fostering unity, self-confidence, and a spirit of fellowship through friendly competition. The event served as a platform for young people to bond beyond parish boundaries and celebrate their talents in a joyful and faith-filled atmosphere.

The day featured intense yet friendly contests in chess, carrom, throwball for girls, cricket, and football. The fields and halls echoed with cheers, laughter, and encouragement as participants gave their best in every game, showing not only skill but also sportsmanship and team spirit.

Emerging as the overall champions of Summer Slam 2025 were the dynamic youth of Sacred Heart Church, Egmore, whose performance across multiple events won them the well-deserved title.

As their first attempt at organizing an event of this scale, the Lourdes Shrine Youth demonstrated remarkable dedication and leadership, ensuring a smooth and memorable experience for all. Summer Slam 2025 not only celebrated physical strength and strategy but also strengthened bonds of friendship and faith among the diocesan youth — a milestone moment that promises to inspire many such gatherings in the years to come.
