Don Bosco Tribal Development Society has dedicated its service for the poor of Jawadhi hills for last 49 years. The community has ventured in enormous activities for the development of the Tribal people. The terrain of Jawadhi Hills spreads around more than 200 villages and three districts. The tough terrain in the interior villages makes it difficult to attend the school regularly for elementary students. This situation increases the students to drop out of the school in the young age itself and there are many other difficulties like wild animals attack, rainy cliamate and so on. The Tribal Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu Government with the help of NGO’s has devised a new project addressing this issue by starting a Pilot Project in collaboration with six NGO’s in six districts. This project comprises of picking the children from their respective villages and dropping them in school safely and takes back to their respective villages after school. Our community has received 3 vans in this service. At present we reach out to three interior villages namely Attiyanuur, Kovilandur, and Namiyampattu. In this project around 160 students are getting benefitted. This project ensured the safe travel for next generation young people. The parents of the children are very joyful. Thanks to the imitative of Tamil Nadu Government. On October 6th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu flagged this project for the upliftment and literacy programme.
