Vision

To aid and inspire youngsters to discern the call to religious life and priesthood, especially in the Salesian Congregation with the motto: Give me souls take away the rest.

Objectives

To reach out to the young through educational institutions and parishes, and introduce the Salesian Way of Life to them
To connect with the young through Altar Server’s Rallies, Youth gatherings, Vocation Day Programmes, Seminars, retreats, social media, etc and help them discern their vocation
To conduct one day vocation camps and Summer Vocation camps to impart Salesian core value and to recruit boys to the Salesian Way of Life
To make parish visits and family visits to encourage religious and priestly vocation
To strengthen vocations through Salesian accompaniment

Vocation Promotion

Vocation Promotion in the Salesian Province of Chennai is being carried out in four different phases.

Phase I - Reaching Out

This is primarily carried out through formal visits to educational institutions (Schools, Colleges, ITIs) and Parishes wherein the young are introduced to the Salesian Way of life and are aided in the process of discernment of their call to priesthood or religious life. We also engage informally with the young in person and in social media with the same purpose.

Phase II - Winter Vocation Camps

Those who feel called or are willing to explore more about the Salesian Way of life are invited to the one-day camps in the month of December. This is a mixture of games, activities, inputs and prayer.

Phase III - Family Visits

The families of those who attended the winter camps are visited to ascertain the family situation and their aspirations. They are further invited to join the Summer Vocation Camp.

Phase IV - Summer Vocation Camp

The young from Class 7 and above are welcome to attend the camp which lasts for 3 to 4 weeks. They are given a live-in experience of the Salesian Way of life and our charism. At the end of the camp, with adequate discernment and dialogue, the candidates are chosen to join the Aspirantate.
